Abstract
ABSTRACTA systematic investigations on the electrochemical behavior of Eu(III) in an ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazoliumbis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([C4mim][NTf2]), was studied in the presence of N,N,N′,N′-tetra(2-ethylhexyl)diglycolamide (T2EHDGA) by cyclic voltammetry. The cyclic voltammogram of Eu(III) in ionic liquid medium in the presence and absence of T2EHDGA were recorded at glassy carbon electrode. The diffusion coefficient of Eu(III) at the electrode–electrolyte inter phase was determined at various temperatures. Thermodynamic parameters were evaluated from the standard apparent potential value and the luminescence of Eu(III) and aggregation behavior of ionic liquid phase were investigated to understand the coordination environment Eu(III)-complex in ionic liquid medium.
