Abstract

BiPO4 film with an active monoclinic phase (space group: P21/n) has been newly reported via a simple electrochemical anodization method. The prepared film is found to be composed of BiPO4 nanorods with a diameter ranging from 80 to 160 nm. The crystallinity and particle size are demonstrated to be influenced by the electrolyte HF concentration. The data illustrates that low HF concentration results in poor crystallinity and large particle size, while high HF concentration leads to the formation of impurity phase of BiO0.51F1.98 and small particle size. The BiPO4 film prepared in 5 M HF exhibits the best activity due to its good crystallinity and small particle size.
