Abstract

Conductance measurements are reported for dilute solutions of LaCo(CN)/ sub 6/ in water and in 10 and 20 wt.% dioxane + water, and for the ferricyanides of La, Nd, and Gd in water. Dissociation constants have been evaluated and the calculation of alpha , the distandce of closest approach of ions, for LaCo(CN)/ sub 6/ has shown that a particular theory of ion association adequately describes the behavior of this electrolyte in the range of dielectric constants studied. The close similiarity in the dissociation constanta confirms the prediction that one would not expect to find large differences for a series of lanthanide saits in the same solvent. (auth)
