Abstract

The mechanism of electroreduction of dysprosium chloride complexes on silver and tungsten electrodes is studied by linear and cyclic voltammetry in an equimolar NaCl-KCl melt at 973 K, and the kinetic parameters of the process are calculated. The diffusion coefficient of dysprosium ions is calculated. In contrast to a tungsten electrode, the electroreduction on a silver electrode is complicated by alloy formation with the cathode material.
