Abstract

Abstract The electrochemical method for synthesis of single high T c superconducting phase of Tl-2223 in thin film form has been developed with conducting heterostructure substrates. The electrodeposition of the Tl–Ba–Ca–Cu cluster films with different conducting substrates such as silver (Ag), stainless steel (S.S.), copper (Cu), aluminum (Al) and heterostructure substrates such as Ag/Al, S.S./Al, and Cu/Al has been attempted. The cyclic voltammograms of electrochemical cells formed with different working electrodes have been recorded and it is revealed that the electrochemical cell formed with Ag/Al heterostructure substrate gives single Tl-2223 phase. The post deposition heat treatment to the films at 850 °C in oxygen atmosphere yields single high T c superconducting phase.
