Abstract

IN April 19631 a high-performance direct hydrocarbon fuel cell was announced. The cells which were described contained platinum electrodes and a phosphoric acid electrolyte and were capable of oxidizing a variety of hydrocarbon fuels including methane, propane, n-octane, n-cetane, and purified practical hydrocarbon fuels. It is the purpose of the present communication to describe in greater detail the performance of such cells on methane.
