Abstract

In this work, Acanthocereus tetragonus extract from stems ripe was used as corrosion inhibitor for aluminum in NaCl (0.6 M) and HCl (1 M). The extract was added in 50 ppm, 100 ppm, and 200 ppm and evaluated at 0 h, 6 h, 12 h, and 24 h with Linear Polarization Resistance (LPR), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and Polarization Curves (PC). As results, the efficiency shows an increase with longer exposure time. Moreover, the efficiencies reached 76% in NaCl (0.6 M) and 52% in HCl (1 M), with 50 ppm after 24 h in both electrolytes.
