Abstract

An electrochemical cell is employed for the simultaneous determination of the chemical diffusion coefficient and the partial ionic conductivity of a mixed ionic-electronic conductor. The cell represents a symmetric solid-state galvanic cell with ionic electrodes and two additional reference electrodes. The cell is used for composition dependent measurements of the chemical diffusion coefficient and the ionic conductivity of α′-Ag 2+δTe within the homogeneity range at 160°C. The kinetic data received from long-time transient measurements show high accuracy and are equal within the limits of error to those obtained from the short-time transient response of the cell.
