Abstract

In this work the synthesis of a Ni60-Co35-Ag5 wt% alloy was performed and evaluation of corrosion behavior of the ternary alloy in Hank solution was obtained. The ternary alloys were synthesized by induction heating under vacuum atmosphere. Heat treatments were performed at 500 {degree sign}C and 800 {degree sign}C for 1 hour. The electrochemical corrosion properties were evaluated by open circuit potential technique, polarization curves and electrochemical impedance (EIS) for 30 days. After 10 days, results show that for the three alloys tested, the free potential stabilized. All alloys present corrosion products in agreement with polarization curves, for alloys with a 500 {degree sign}C HT it is observed the lowest corrosion rate. An impedance measurement corroborates the other electrochemical results. The 500 {degree sign}C heat treated alloy shows the best corrosion behavior under the test condition.
