Abstract

The complexation constant was evaluated, pKd, between dopamine and 2-hydroxypropilbetaCD through two methods at pH 1: by cyclic voltammetry and with spectrophotometry using the software SQUAD, which requires absorbance data and a chemical model that considers the inclusion complex that is likely to be formed. Both methods produced very similar pKd values, namely: spectrophotometry gave 3.69 whereas electrochemistry gave 3.75. The composition ratio for the complex was dopamine-hydroxypropil−β−CD 1:1.
