Abstract

AbstractThe recent interest in improving the functional characteristics of electroplated deposits has resulted in several zinc alloy electroplating systems. A number of reports on the behaviour of zinc and its alloys with metals like cobalt, nickel, etc. ill sodium chloride are available. Rowever, their behaviour in polluted marine environments containing sulphide has received less attention. This paper deals with the corrosion behaviour of electrodeposited zinc and Zn–Ni in synthetic sea water with and without sulphide present as a pollutant. The effect of chromating treatment is also discussed.
