Abstract
The Ru-Cr-Mo-Se electrocatalyst was synthesized by reacting of the corresponding transition metal carbonyl compounds in 1,6-hexanediol solvent containing dissolved selenium under refluxing conditions. The structure, morphology and electrochemical performances of the product were characterized by scanning electron microscope, X-ray powder diffractometer and rotating disk electrode technique. The catalyst maintained the hexagonal structure of Rux cluster as the main phase, formed an amorphous phase and presented a high uniformity of agglomerated nanocrystalline particles. The Ru-Cr-Mo-Se catalyst showed higher electrocatalytic activity towards oxygen reduction reaction in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 solution than that obtained with Ru-Se.
