Abstract

To ring in the New Year, we take this opportunity to thank all the authors, readers, referees, and board members who have contributed to the health and success of Electroanalysis over the years and particularly during this past year. During 2015 we have published four very successful issues devoted to: the 15th International Conference on Electroanalysis (ESEAC) in Malmö, Sweden (Issue 1/2015, co-organized with Lo Gorton); Mátrafüred 2014 – International Conference on Electrochemical Sensors (Issue 3/2015, in cooperation with Philippe Bühlmann, Eric Bakker, Róbert E. Gyurcsányi, and Ernö Pretsch); Richard Compton's 60th Birthday (Issue 4, co-organized with Neil V. Rees), and Advanced Materials in Electroanalysis (Issue 9/2015, co-organized with R. Villalonga). In the course of 2015, we focused special attention on improving the post-acceptance workflows of the journal. This is in response to the increasing importance of rapid dissemination of results via efficient publication of the final version. However, while optimizing the post-acceptance workflows, we simultaneously ensured that we did not sacrifice on the quality of manuscript publication. We were able to unify several of the post-acceptance steps into a more streamlined process, and the result was immediate and remarkable. Within a few weeks after optimizing the post-acceptance process, the average time from acceptance to online publication was reduced from 61 days to 29 days, with room for further improvement going forward. Authors are also receiving their galley proofs much more quickly than before. We are happy to report this result and feel that this improvement contributes to a greater overall service to the authors of Electroanalysis. In 2015, we also made another important change. After many years of accepting submissions on ScholarOne, we have now migrated to a new submission system: Editorial Manager. The new submission page can be found at www.editorialmanager.com/elan. On Editorial Manager, Electroanalysis has now joined other top journals from Wiley-VCH, including Angewandte Chemie, Chemistry-A European Journal, Chemistry-An Asian Journal, ChemElectroChem, ChemPhysChem, Advanced Materials, and so on. This means that authors and reviewers can submit papers and peer-review manuscripts by using the same username/password combination as they do for the above group of journals, thus simplifying the publication process all around. In 2016 we will continue to focus on improving our high standards and on communicating and stimulating quality science. Particular emphasis will be given to the latest trends and innovations in electrochemical sensors and biosensors, advanced electrode materials and novel detection strategies. We welcome your top original and review articles on cutting-edge research in and around electroanalytical chemistry. Several special issues will be published during 2016, including topical issues dedicated to nanocarbon electrochemistry, wearable electrochemical sensors, and electrochemical immunosensors. We look forward to continuously receiving your best research articles as well as your suggestions. Thank you all for all your efforts, and very best wishes for 2016! 1 1 1 1
