Abstract

The voltage distribution along the DC composite insulator string has been solved iteratively with finite element method by using the control equations of the ion flow field. Voltage and electric field intensity distribution along the 500kV HVDC composite insulator was calculated. The result was compared with that solved in electrostatic field without considering the space charge. The result was better than that without the space charge for the measured values.
