Abstract

Laboratory data is presented to show that liquefaction of cohesionless soils can be evaluated by electrical resistivity techniques. In addition this same material can be monitored by electrical resistivity techniques during energy input and subsequent stabilization. The instrumentation used in this study can be adapted to field measurements. The results (resistivity measurements) in this investigation are repeatable, and increase with increasing energy input. Applications of this work include soil improvement techniques such as deep dynamic compaction.
