Abstract

A method is described for obtaining the principal electrical resistivities of an anisotropic metal with axial symmetry. The method involves the measurement of the sample resistivity, and in addition, the angle between the current and the net electric field direction using a virtual probe method. Results are presented for three samples of the rhombohedral semimetal bismuth and compared with results taken from the literature.
