Abstract

This letter communicates the synthesis of electroactive polymer electrolytes by grafting viologen groups onto poly(epichlorohydrin-co-oxyethylene). The ionic conduction and electrochemical redox behavior of the polymers are studied. In this kind of polymer electrolytes the ionic conductivity increases with salt content, and electrochemical redox process depends on the diffusion of balanced anions. The color contrast between different valent viologen cations and the reversible redox feature make it possible to be acted as electrochromic polymers.
