Abstract

Electrical properties of 1 3 - filled charge-density wave systems, NbTe 4 and TaTe 4, are studied. For both systems, the resistivity is isotropic in the tetragonal a— c plane and increases with increasing temperature. For TaTe 4 no anomalous structure is found in the resistivity-temperature curve because it is commensurate in the temperature range studied. For NbTe 4 changes in the slope of the resistivity-temperature curve corresponding to the incommensurate-discommensurate and the discommensurate-commensurate transitions are observed. Changes are observed in the temperature derivative of the thermoelectric power at these transitions.
