Abstract

In this work, the synthesis of Ba0.8Sr0.2Ti0.94Sn0.06O3 (BSTS) from BaCO3, SrCO3, TiO2 and SnO2 is studied. Ba0.8Sr0.2Ti0.94Sn0.06O3 ceramic was prepared via conventional solid –state reaction in the air at 1400 °C. Samples were slowly cooled to room temperature. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies show that Ba0.8Sr0.2Ti0.94Sn0.06O3 ceramic has belonged to the cubic phase structure with space group Pm-3m. The ceramic’s electrical properties show a high dielectric constant, εr ~ 6445 at room temperature measured at a frequency of 10Hz. The capacitance of the sample described the dielectric behavior was associated with the grain boundary effect (C = 10−8 to 10−10 F), Ba0.8Sr0.2Ti0.94Sn0.06O3 ceramic has a small dielectric loss and the conductivity in the range between semi – insulator and insulator material.
