Abstract

The conversion of wave energy is carried out by designing a suitable system in which a wave energy driven reciprocating air compressor is used to compress air which in turn drives a turbine generator set. A number of practical considerations relevant to the specification, design, operation and control strategy of the system are examined carefully. A special attention is given to weather effects and the maximum wind pressure through out the year at the site selected. The frequency of deep depressions and cyclons is also taken into account. By going through the oceanographic and meteorological study of different coastal areas of Pakistan, the site of Jiwani, Makran is selected for the ocean wave energy conversion system installation.
