Abstract

A compact analytical expression for the potential due to a point current source on a horizontally stratified earth with an overburden having dipping anisotropy has been obtained by using the Hankel transform technique and the principle of rotation of axes. The sounding curves for two configurations, Wenner and Schlumberger, are presented. It has been shown that if the depth of the anisotropic overburden is known, the inclination of the axis of anisotropy can be determined from the resistivity sounding curves.
