Abstract

The ultrafine monoclinic tin (II) iodide nanoparticles were synthesized using an organic–inorganic complexation method. The maximum value of dielectric constant (ε′) ∼ 94 was achieved at 80 °C under the frequency of 100 Hz. The device exhibited dipolar type of interaction in tin iodide system under the applied field condition and a maximum polarization value ∼ 0.34 μC/cm2 was obtained at 7.0 kV/mm. The polarization, dielectric and conductivity behaviour of tin iodide were also studied during the reaction between tin (II)-complex and potassium iodide. The method has the potential for future sensor applications.
