Abstract
This Work in Progress describes a project being undertaken at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT) to improve the e//eectiveness ofelecrrical engineering service courses offeered to niechanical engineering students. The authors had taught these courses several times ond were dissatisjed with the oufconres. The delivery/eatures ojthe new course includes: studio Jormat; presentorion o/material /ram the viewpoint and in the context ojthe discipline being served: a variety of active learning strategies; and Web- based learning and assessment tools including on-line quizzes, lecture ,I otes, niultimedio simulations, and detailed problem solutions in an intuitive point-and-click /ormat. For the duration of the project. a board will review the educational materials developed, provide iiljormation /or their continuous improvement, and assure that the materials developed can serve as a niodel /or the development o/ service courses in elecrricol systems.
