Abstract
In 1992, the cofounder of the Hewlett-Packard Company, William R. Hewlett, was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in recognition of his invention of a variable-frequency oscillator. The oscillator served as the original stimulus for the formation of the company, which became one of the world's foremost manufacturers.
