Abstract

The stir casting technique has beenused to create a metal matrix composite of Al 7075 with three distinct additives such as 3 % boron carbide (B4C), 5 % graphite, and 8 % fly-ash. Taguchi-based Grey Relational Optimization (GRO)was used to determine optimal Electrical-Discharge Drilling (EDD) variables. The input parameters, notably current, pulse on time, and pulse off time, are critical in influencing the EDDoutput control reactions such as Material ExtractionRate (MER) as well as Surface-Roughness (SR). The best outcome responses were obtained with current = 15 amps, pulse on time = 100 s, and pulse off time = 20 s from GRO, and a confirmatory test was performed. From the Taguchi signal-to-noise ratio analysis, the resulting data revealed that the pulse current had a significant impact on the output parameters.
