Abstract
This paper presents a description of the steady-state electrical performance objectives of the new GENERREX* excitation system now being applied to large steam turbine-generators. Some of the considerations entering into the proper selection of the design characteristics for the various components are also discussed. Analytical performance predictions are compared to test results obtained during on-site operation of a generator unit with the prototype GEERREX excitation system.
