Abstract

The electrical conductivity of both pure and doped melts of I2+Te has been examined over a wide composition range. At the Te-rich end, the conductivity is predominantly electronic in character, whereas at the I2-rich end, the evidence supports a chain mechanism involving I-3. In the intermediate region, tellurium ions of variable valency and environment are invoked.
