Abstract

AbstractFerrites are ferrimagnetic materials with good electrical properties composed of oxides of iron and other metals. They are useful in many electronic devices, microwave and satellite communication, video and digital recording and as permanent magnets. Family of lithium ferrites possess properties like high resistivity and high Curie temperature, low dielectric losses, high chemical stability, high magnetization, excellent squareness and are economically prized. The electrical properties of ferrites are important from application point of view and depend on various factors like composition and preparation parameters. Preparing ferrites by conventional ceramic method is very cumbersome. Chemical sol–gel method is very simple and efficient. A variety of metal ions or substituent like Mn, Ni, Co, Cr, Al, Mg, Cu, etc. can be accommodated in the structure of lithium ferrites. Ni2+ and Co2+ substitution is beneficial to improve the electrical and magnetic properties in lithium ferrites like resistivity, dielectric loss, power handling capacity and coercivity, spin wave line widths, density, magnetization, etc. The study of electrical properties such as D.C. resistivity, dielectric constant, dielectric loss, A.C. conductivity is very important.KeywordsFerritesSol–gelResistivityDielectric constantA.C. conductivity
