Abstract

Amorphous Cr-Ti, Nb-Ni and, for the first time, Nb-Co and Nb-Fe thin films were prepared over an extended composition range using laser quenching. The composition and temperature dependence of the resistivities of amorphous and crystalline configurations are presented. As revealed by the compositional dependence, the amorphous phases of all alloys exhibit short range order. The nature of the short range order is discussed on the basis of the relation between resistivity and its temperature coefficient.
