Abstract

The electrical and optical studies of Cr 3+ doped chlorophosphate and phosphate glasses have been carried out at low doping concentrations of Cr 3+. The d.c. conductivity in the temperature range (343–503K) has been studied for Cr 3+ doped glasses (doping concentrations are: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 mol %). The observed absorption bands in the region 350–800nm have been assigned to different transitionsassuming an octahedral symmetry.
