Abstract

Electrical and eletrochemical properties of a polyacetylene derivative having cationic pendant groups, (poly(dihexyldipropargyl ammonium bromide) (PDHDPAB) have been studied. The polyacetylene derivative showed good solubility in polar solvents. By mixing with solution of Nafion which is an ion-exchange polymer having anionic pendant groups an insoluble composite film of these ionic polymers was prepared on a test electrode. The composite film showed electrochemical doping-undoping current waves of n-type. Electronic conductivity absorption spectra and ESR of this novel polymer-polymer composite have also been studied as a function of doping level, which are discussed in terms of soliton model by taking electronic energy band scheme of PDHDPAB into account.
