Abstract

AbstractThe electric transport phenomena in mixed electrolyte solutions (of more than two ion constituents) are analysed from the phenomenological point of view. The expressions for the equivalent conductivity and the stoichiometric transport numbers are derived using the equivalent fractions, the total equivalent concentration and the conventional ionic conductivities of the ion constituents. Limiting values and limiting laws under several conditions are studied. General expressions for the ionic conductivities and the excess conductivity of ternary electrolyte solutions are given.
