Abstract
AbstractThe Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC's) release of a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPR) on March 20, 2014, provides another sign of the importance that natural gas will play in the future of electric power generation in the United States. FERC's NOPR proposes to revise standards for pipeline business operations and communications, including changes to the industry's operating day and the scheduling of transportation service. FERC states clearly that the impetus for the revisions is the “increased reliance on natural gas for electric generation.”
