Abstract

Electric Power System Expansion Planning is very important, not only for the state economy but also for the overall social development. The paper presents the general view of the expansion planning concept with minimum costs “The Least Cost Planning” that is characteristic for the monopolistic system which in open electricity systems transforms in minimising the prices because of better competition and maximising the profit as a main criterion of the market. Also, there are presented some world known models and program packages for electric power system expansion planning: ENPEP, GTMax and PRAO.
