Abstract

The Aim of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing (FAME) of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is to save Rs. 60,000 Cr annually in Oil's import bill by 2020. To fulfill this aim and to increase the use of HEV, researchers are more focused on development of an efficient and economically stable HEV. Integrated Starter Alternator (ISA) which performs the functions of both starter as well as alternator is developed helping to reduce cost and weight of the HEV. However, to choose a proper electric machine and control strategy for smooth operation of HEV is the matter of concern. This paper gives an overview of existing AC machines used in HEV. Also, it reviews various control techniques used for smooth running of ISA for HEV application.
