Abstract

On 31 July 1981, 550 KWe were delivered to the remote village of Tabernas, Almeria, Spain from the Distributed Collector Solar Thermal-Electric Plant designed and built by an International Consortium and sponsored by nine countries of the International Energy Agency (IEA). The project is now completed and in operation. The management and startup experience are summarized.
