Abstract

Electric field-induced changes in the two-phonon infrared absorption in diamond have been observed in the region 2400 to 2700 cm-1. The induced spectrum is very similar to the second order raman spectrum for a similar experimental configuration. This similarity is attributed to field-induced changes in the selection rules governing two-phonon absorption.
