Abstract

Electric field sensors by using Pockels device have been developed. Especially to miniaturize sensors, an optical waveguide technique has been introduced successfully. They are expected to be applied to measurement in discharge space. In this paper an optical waveguide Pockels sensor is set up on a surface of a high voltage cylindrical electrode and shows electric fields before and after corona inception. After corona discharge occurs the electric fields on the surface of the electrode are restricted to about 30 kV/cm because of space charges. Waveforms of the electric fields during discharge are also observed.
