Abstract

Electric field gradients (q) and nuclear quadrupole coupling constants for the neutral atoms with pp and dd configurations from helium (Z = 2) to radon (Z = 86) have been calculated using the numerical Hartree–Fock wave functions of Froese [1]. Comparison with the experimental values of eqQ is made wherever these values are available; the calculated and experimental values are found to be in excellent agreement.
