Abstract

This paper presents an electric and magnetic simultaneous transient analysis method of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) for use on the SPICE which is a general-purpose circuit simulator. For the transient analysis including a motor starting or a circuit failure, it is necessary that an electric, magnetic, motion, and control system are combined with each other and computed simultaneously. First, we describe a simplified magnetic circuit model of a 6/4 SRM, and combine it with a driving circuit including a controller. Furthermore, these are combined with a motion equation block on the SPICE. Based on the proposed method, we obtain a dynamic characteristics of the SRM such as an exciting voltage, winding current, torque et al. And we also calculate a dynamic flux distribution. The calculation values are compared with the measurement ones, in order to evaluate a validity of the proposed method.
