Abstract

Composite (x)CoFe 2O 4–(1−x)BaTiO 3 thick films were prepared on alumina substrate by electrophoretic deposition technique using CoFe 2O 4 and BaTiO 3 nanopowders. X-ray diffraction indicated that the films consisted of both spinel CoFe 2O 4 and perovskite BaTiO 3 phase. No intermediate phase is detected in the films. Leakage current density proved the enhancement of film insulativity with increasing BaTiO 3 concentration. Ferroelectric properties of the composite films are also found to improve with increasing BaTiO 3 concentration. At room temperature, the composite thick films exhibited good ferromagnetic and ferroelectric properties.
