Abstract

Densities of internal electric and magnetic energy, entropy and free energy in a nonlinear and lossless material are evaluated, under the assumption thatD depends only onE andB depends only onH. It is found that successive nonlinear terms contribute to free energy with an increasing weight, which tends to twice the value of the weight of the linear term.
