Abstract
Water occupies a very large area of the Earth's surface and also found underground. Most of the water on Earth's surface is found in Sea and Ocean and is saline. The availability of fresh water varies from place to place. Contamination of ground water occurs when pollutants are released to the ground water and make their way down. Metal including lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Copper (Cu) and Mercury (Hg) can significant damage to environment and human health. Cadmium is one of the most trace metals in human food and water in the Whole World. This study was applied for the determination of Cadmium in 08 samples of groundwater and tap water from some districts of western U.P. viz Amroha, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Bijnaur. The researchers respective of their work determined the heavy metal concentration with the help of Atomic Absorption spectroscopy. Samples acidified to 1% with nitric acid and the stored in Double capped bottles. The aim of this study is to review the research work on concentration of heavy metal in ground water.
