Abstract

The author demonstrates a sincere interest in scars, their multiple variations as related to cause and location on the body, and solutions for their correction. He has discussed the problem of scar production from the standpoint of tension forces, foreign body exposure, infection, and so on. His main interest lies clearly in the push-and-pull effect of muscular forces in relation to the skin, the resultant tension lines that occur, and the interplay of these forces in relation to scar production. The main thesis rests clearly in the management of these tension forces, placing them in their most neutral position, to gain the finest scar possible. In this regard, his discussions, at times, become a mild assassination of the English language with multiple abbreviations. If one were to use this text as a reference text, one might find difficulty in interpreting the letter abbreviations of RSTL, ATL, and so forth. Lack
