Elderly work participation: case study in the city of Blitar

Abstract

Life Expectancy in East Java continues to increase in the last five years. Rising Life Expectations led to an increase in the number of elderly people in several cities in East Java such as the City of Blitar. The percentage of elderly in Blitar City reaches 11.8% of the total population. This study aims to analyze the involvement of the elderly in working in the City of Blitar. This study uses a survey method with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, questionnaires, observation, and documentation. Analysis of the data used in the form of quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed that the average elderly in Blitar City consisted of the age group 60-69 with a percentage of 49.1%, 70-79 with a percentage of 31.7%, and> 80 with a percentage of 19.2%. Elderly people not working in Blitar City reached 75%, while the elderly who worked only reached 25%. Elderly people who do not work are dependent on family and government. Elderly people who do not work actively allow a decline in health.
