Abstract

Single-lap adhesive joints have been used in mechanical structures. Up to now, many investigations have been carried out on the stress analysis of single-lap adhesive joints subjected to tensile shear loads [1]–[6]. However, single-lap adhesive joints are subjected to external bending moments in practice. It is necessary to examine the stress distribution and joint strength of single-lap adhesive joints subjected to external bending moments. In addition, the most of the investigations have dealt with the stress analysis of the joints in the elastic region and few researches have been performed on the joints in elastroplastic region taking into account the delamination growth at the interface between the adherends and the adhesive.
