Abstract

Different elastomer-based composites for microwave absorbers are developed. The influence of chemical character and structure of the polymer matrix and chemical nature and concentration of fillers with high values of the imaginary part of the complex dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability on the microwave properties of the absorbers is investigated. Natural rubber (NR), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), butadiene rubber (BR), chloroprene rubber (CR), nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) are tested as polymer matrix. Graphite, furnace carbon black, acetylene carbon black and active carbon are used as fillers with high dielectric losses; natural magnetite is used as filler with high magnetic losses in our experiments. Some more important microwave parameters of the absorbers as function of frequency and composition (mass ratio filler/rubber) are measured.
