Abstract

The purpose of this work is to generalize the study of a mathematical model to a piezoviscous lubricant displacement between an elastic and a rigid surface. The hydrodynamic part of the problem is governed by the Reynolds equation combined with the cavitation model of Elrod-Adams and the piezoviscous relation given by Barus law. Elastic deformation of the journal-bearing device with thin bearing is taken into account by means of the elastic hinged plate biharmonic equation. For numerical purposes a generalization of a previous iterative algorithm for the isoviscous case is introduced to uncouple the hydrodynamic and the elastic parts of the problem. The main goal is to solve the additional difficulty of Barus law.
