Abstract

This report first explored the path independence of the J-contour integral and the equivalence of two independent definitions of the J-integral for ductile materials which exhibit a long yield plateau in the true stress-strain curve. These are two important characteristics of the J-integral applicable to characterize crack tip stress-strain fields [3]. Finally, the J-estimation method for the materials was further discussed.
