Abstract

An internal combustion engine is one of the most used elements of vehicles. The quality of their design determines the reliability, efficiency and environmental friendliness of the vehicles as a whole. One of the main directions of development and acceleration of the design of the internal combustion engines is the systematic use of digital technologies. The possibility of using the elastohydrodynamic models of crankshaft bearings as an element of the digital model of an internal combustion engine is considered in the paper. Besides, the possibilities of elastohydrodynamic models of a big-end connecting rod and main bearings are presented. The necessity of their use at all stages of creating a digital model of an internal combustion engine is shown. The requirements to the modeling of elastohydrodynamic journal bearings for creating a digital model of the internal combustion engine are analyzed.
